Rosa Uribe
photographer and videographer
I am Rosa Uribe, a feminist photographer who also works with text and video. I use my work to understand and respond to the world we live in, one that often feels unstable and unequal.
My projects often begin from personal experience and grow through research, archives, interviews, and lived memory to trace how individual pain and self-perception are shaped by larger social structures.
For me, photographs are never neutral. They carry inherited ways of seeing that shape how we understand gender, power, and identity. Because of this, my work does not follow one fixed method. I burn, cut, pierce, or rewrite photographs as a way of physically responding to what they hold and questioning the power behind them.
I do not present trauma as something to be consumed. I want the viewer to slow down, reflect, and recognise that their own gaze, assumptions, and interpretations are also part of the work.
